Adding a super-food powder to your green smoothies is a great way to get essential nutrients in your body. One of my favourites is spirulina, which is blue-green algae that grow in warm, fresh waters around the world.
The reason it’s considered a super-food is because it’s one of the most powerful nutrient sources, and it greatly enhances health and helps protect against diseases. It detoxifies the body, removes heavy metals and purifies the blood and its rich in protein, iron and calcium along with many other nutrients.
I must say that spirulina doesn’t taste great on its own, but the great thing about green smoothies is that the fruits mask the taste of ingredient that taste unpleasant. And although spirulina does have a strong taste, there are combinations of fruits that work well together to mask that taste and make it taste great.
