Chia seeds are high in protein, calcium and iron and add a dose of healthy fats to the smoothie.
The leafy green used for this smoothie is kale, which contains detoxifying properties and promotes healthy hair and skin.
Morning Sunshine Smoothie
1 cup of kale
1 cup of mango (fresh or frozen)
1 cup of strawberries (fresh or frozen)
1 medium size orange (peeled)
1 tablespoon of chia seeds
1 cup of water
In a glass or jar, mix the chia seeds and the cup of water, stir and let it sit for 5-10 minutes. This allows the chia seeds to soak to a gel-like consistency which makes it easier for the body to digest them.
In your high-speed blender, add the soaked chia seeds and water with the kale and blend for about a minute.
Add the mango and strawberries and blend again
Lastly, add the orange and blend everything until smooth
Serve and enjoy!
